Runners Wear Jeanie Costumes at the Cocoa Beach Half Marathon

The cool October Weather was ideal for running a half marathon this morning.  I woke up at 5:30 AM and thought it would be nice to go to the Cocoa Beach half marathon that started at 7 AM today and show support for my friends.  I then fell asleep didn’t wake up til 9…

After a cup of coffee, I became motivated once again to visit my friends who were running the race.  By the time I got there many racers had finished but there was number who hadn’t.  They had been running for 2 and half hours.

The race actually has participants run three miles on cocoa beach aside from the other 10 miles on the streets.  But whats even more interesting is some of the participants wear costumes in the spirit of the I dream of Jeanie show.  Some of the male runners wore Major Nelson Costumes and many fit women runners gave Barbra Eden a run for their money by wearing the shows see through Jeannie costume.  Special mention goes to the person who ran the whole race in Jeannie bottle (very awkward costume) and the fully dressed in uniform fire fighters.  Photo Credit:

For me I came to see the costumes and my friends.  One of my friends Matt Mahoney in the 60 to 64 age group had finished the race in an hour and 38 minutes.  My friends Robin, Patt, Jessica and Kristen Klein (The mile marker 13 girl) were there also.

I also got to see the Jeannie competition.  4 Jeannies who had run the half marathon competed for a evil twin Jeannie bottle.  It was for whoever looked closest to the real Jeannie in the show.  The Jeannie in the green costume on the right in the photo below won.

All in all a fun time and motivating for me to run the half marathon next year.

    That’s all for now,

    The Dr.
